Senior Associate - Private Equity

Overview Location : Madrid. Sector : Mid-Market Private Equity. Language : Spanish (Native / Fluent). Our client, a leading mid-market private equity firm with a strong track record across Iberia, is seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Senior Associate to join its Madrid-based team. This opportunity provides full exposure to the investment lifecycle - from origination and due diligence through to portfolio management and value creation. The successful candidate will bring 5+ years of professional experience, of which at least 2–3 years should be in private equity, and demonstrate strong execution capabilities and commercial judgment.

Key Responsibilities Origination & Evaluation : Actively contribute to sourcing new investment opportunities, leveraging networks and market insights to identify high-potential targets across Spain and Iberia. Play a hands-on role in initial screening, strategic assessment, and transaction pipeline development.

Financial Modelling & Valuation : Take ownership of sophisticated financial models (LBOs, returns analyses, sensitivities, scenario planning) to underpin investment theses and inform decision-making at Partner level.

Due Diligence Leadership : Drive and coordinate multi-stream due diligence processes, managing legal, commercial, operational, and financial advisors while ensuring tight execution under demanding timelines.

Investment Materials : Produce robust investment committee documentation, valuation packs, and strategic presentations that shape deal discussions and secure approvals.

Portfolio Value Creation : Partner with portfolio company leadership to design and deliver value creation plans, support bolt-on acquisitions, optimise capital structures, and track KPIs against strategic objectives.

Performance Monitoring : Oversee portfolio reporting and governance, providing clear insights on financial and operational performance to senior stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements Experience : Minimum 5 years in high-calibre transaction-oriented roles, with at least 2–3 years directly in private equity; proven track record in deal execution and portfolio development.

Transaction Execution : Strong exposure to mid-market or large-cap transactions, demonstrating ability to manage complex deal processes and deliver results.

Analytical Strength : Advanced skills in financial modelling, valuation, and scenario analysis, combined with the ability to distil insights and assess investment risks / opportunities.

Language & Communication : Native Spanish with fluent English; excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage credibly with senior executives, boards, and investors.

Mindset : Entrepreneurial, commercially astute, and self-starter mentality; thrives in a lean, high-performance environment where initiative and accountability are valued.

Location : Based in Madrid or willing to relocate, with a strong commitment to investing in the Iberian mid-market.
