Senior Technical Asset Manager role description.
Velto Renewables (Velto), a subsidiary of La Caisse (Caisse de Dépôt et Placement de Québec), is looking for a Senior Technical Asset Manager to join its team in Madrid, Spain, and work closely with the Head of Asset Management and the Portfolio Manager.
Velto Renewables is an investor, investments manager and long-term owner of renewable energy projects. Established in 2020 and backed by La Caisse global investment group, Velto Renewables is committed to contributing to the decarbonization of the global economy by investing in and developing an international and multi-technology portfolio of renewable energy projects. Velto currently owns 218 MW of regulated operating solar PV projects in Spain, 130 MW of operating and under construction solar PV and onshore wind projects in France, manages a 25% investment in a 630 MW offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom, develops a 1+GW of greenfield projects in Iberia, and is seeking to grow its portfolio in the upcoming months by becoming a local player in the countries and regions where it invests.
The Senior Technical Asset Manager will perform overall technical asset management activities for a sizeable regulated solar PV operating portfolio located in Spain. He / she will be instrumental for the optimization of energy production and revenues and the identification of potential cost reduction initiatives, and the availability, transparency, and actionable use of information.
Responsabilities
- General technical asset management of the PV assets;
- Monitor the Service Provider’s activity (Asset Management & O&M) to ensure the timely fulfilment of obligations and compliance with the contractual terms (responsible for the day-to-day relationship);
- Monitor third party’s services providers (insurance, market agent, etc.) to ensure the timely fulfilment of obligations and compliance with the contractual terms;
- Communication with key stakeholders (market players, O&M, land, government and other suppliers or services providers);
- Become familiar with the contracts for each SPV to understand the respective obligations of both parties;
- Supervision of contractual obligations and technical, commercial and legal regulations;
- Review Service Provider’s policies, processes, and procedures to ensure procedural, legislative and contract requirements are correctly fulfilled;
- Review Site Preventative Maintenance Plans (PMP) and monitor performance against objectives;
- Monitoring of the cybersecurity plan;
- Review monthly maintenance reports, identify failings, and propose an appropriate response;
- Monitoring and reporting of KPIs;
- Conduct analysis and prepare regular performance summaries comparing the relative performance of the different portfolios and identifying opportunities for further improvement;
- Implementation of improvement and optimization plans;
- Cost control;
- Ensuring a high level of compliance with all HSE requirements and efficient claim management from Service Provider;
- Ensuring the integrity, H&S, availability and reliability of operation of all equipment and elements that make up the assets;
- Plant inspections;
- Monitor the revenues of the assets;
- Support the company in technical M&A activities;
- Support and develop various reporting activities;
Competencies
Good, demonstrable understanding of the requirements related to Spanish regulated PV projects;Must be autonomous and proactive : develop own workstreams and work across many different functions;Strong aptitude to learn complex concepts (tax rules, energy policy, financial structures, corporate structures, business models, etc.);In-depth technical knowledge of PV assets;Proven experience in managing solar assets operating under RD 413 / 2014;Knowledge of other technologies, i.e. : wind;Good understanding of legal concepts ruling Asset Management and O&M contracts;Good level of comfort with data management : proficient at extracting and analyzing large amounts of data and presenting information in an easy-to-understand way;Ability to develop and implement report templates, analytical tools, and other O&M specific tools;Good team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;High Level of Proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Excel in particular), SCADA;Valid driver’s license;Education and experience
Bachelor’s and-or master’s degree in relevant discipline (Engineering or similar);Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish;Between 6 and 9 years’ experience within the renewable energy industry working in the implementation and / or asset management / O&M of PV projects;Experience working with PV regulated assets;Experience working with wind assets;Technical knowledge of other technologies;
