Descripción del trabajoDefine and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard compliance across the business. Create and manage a Compliance Monitoring Plan, with regular reviews and board-level reporting. Deliver compliance training across teams (Product, Marketing, Support, Operations). Manage responses to regulatory inquiries, inspections, and enforcement actions. Build and lead MAKE's Compliance function, hiring and mentoring future compliance team members. Collaborate with Product and Operations to enable compliant scaling — balancing innovation with regulatory integrity. Partner with external legal counsel and advisory firms where appropriate. 8+ years of experience in Compliance or Regulatory Affairs within fintech, payments, or banking. Deep knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks : E-Money, PSD2, AMLD5 / 6, and GDPR. Prior designation as MLRO, Compliance Officer, or equivalent in a licensed financial institution or EMI. Proven success building and scaling compliance programs from scratch or early stage. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — confident dealing with regulators and executives. Fluency in English (Spanish or Portuguese a plus). Experience supporting licensing applications, passporting, or regulatory authorisations. Familiarity with SumSub or similar identity verification tools. Experience in B2C fintech, neo-banks, or creator-focused platforms. Interest in the creator economy, digital payments, or financial empowerment for independent earners. Competitive compensation package with potential stock options. About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Head of Compliance to join our leadership team and help us build a world-class, compliant financial ecosystem for creators.
You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all compliance and risk management frameworks within our fintech operation. This includes ensuring regulatory adherence across markets, guiding product and operations on compliant scaling, and working closely with our executive team and regulators.
The ideal candidate combines deep regulatory knowledge (E-Money, Payments, AML, KYC) with a pragmatic, startup-minded approach - someone who can build processes that protect the company without slowing innovation.
You'll report directly to the COO and work closely with our CEO and Legal team.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Oversight
- Own and expand MAKE's global compliance framework, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations (PSD2, E-Money, AMLD5 / 6, GDPR, etc.).
- Act as Compliance Officer and MLRO, maintaining direct relationships with regulators, auditors, and financial partners.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust AML / CTF and KYC programs, including transaction monitoring, risk assessments, and periodic reviews.
- Lead regulatory reporting, audits, and filings, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Advise leadership on new and evolving regulatory requirements and their operational impact.
- Ensure compliance is embedded in product design, onboarding, and ongoing operations.
