Full-stack Development Team Lead

As a Tech Lead at Membership Platform Department, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining both the frontend and backend components of our applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our business needs and exceed our customers' expectations.

Team

Rakuten Tech in Europe (MPD-EU) serves as the regional hub for European-based members of the Technology Division, providing and optimizing global platforms to support businesses within the Rakuten Ecosystem in Europe and beyond. Our team spans multiple countries with a diverse group of members in Barcelona, Berlin, London, Tallinn, and Berlin, collaborating with the wider Technology Divisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient backend systems and APIs using Java / Kotlin.
• Find the right balance between quality and speed of delivery as well as manage technical debt.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Collaborate with architects to build & scale Identity & Access management (IAM) solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and bugs.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach the engineers in our team, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
