Senior Accountant (RTR) - Full Time - Madrid, Spain

We are seeking a Senior Accountant (RTR) to join our GF_Finance & Controlling, Accounting team in Spain. In this role, you will collaborate across multiple countries and engage with diverse stakeholders, including Accounting, Reporting, Analytics, Country Finance Heads, Global Process Owners (GPOs), and external auditors and tax authorities.
Main responsibilities include :
Providing expert support on complex accounting topics within the RTR team.
Supporting financial booking activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Sulzer regulations.
Managing reconciliations and adjustments to maintain accurate records.
Participating in period-end closing activities, including account receivable / payable closing, general ledger closing, and Asset Accounting (AA).
Supporting intercompany reconciliation and resolving variances.
Performing technical Year-End Closing activities such as balance carry forward and system setups.
Leveraging ERP systems to enhance accounting processes.
Assisting in defining RTR processes and system implementations with the GPO.
Maintaining and updating the chart of accounts and hierarchies.
Collaborating with local Finance Teams and Shared Services / BPO providers.
Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Contributing to continuous process improvement and maintaining policies and templates.
Ensuring internal controls are followed.
Qualifications needed :
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
At least 3-4 years of accounting experience, especially in general ledger and financial reporting.
CPA, ACCA, CMA, or similar certification preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and integrity in financial reporting.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
Excellent communication skills for senior leadership insights.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, iScala).
Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with Tagetik, Coprocess, and Qlik Sense is advantageous.
Proficiency in English; additional European languages are a plus.
