At ING we are looking for VP of Portfolio Management. Your Role And Work Environment : We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic VP of Portfolio Management to join our Lending Team of Wholesale Banking . As a key member of the Portfolio Management team, your responsibility is to actively manage the lending portfolio of Spain & Portugal and optimize returns through strong analytics and capital velocity. You will join a multi-sector and multi-product team (Real Estate Finance, Energy, Infra, Telecommunications, Acquisition Finance), although the role will be mainly focused on project finance transactions in the Energy & Infrastructure sectors. You will collaborate with a wide range of teams — Transaction Management, Capital Markets & Advisory, Risk, Global Credit Restructuring, Legal and more — whilst aligning with back office / support teams. The Portfolio Management team plays a key role in optimizing processes for regulatory readiness, operational effectiveness and portfolio optimization.
Responsibilities
- The Portfolio Management team will be the ‘center of excellence’ for the in-life management of ING’s WB lending exposure. It covers all activities post initial funding to final repayment. As a front office department, it will collaborate with Origination & Structuring and product specialists to ensure a seamless client experience. The function will be organized along product and sector considerations. Each portfolio manager will cover a set of portfolio clients and act as the first point of contact for ongoing credit monitoring, analytics, internal risk and other reporting. Portfolio Management supports cross-buy opportunities and is involved in delivering ING’s capital velocity targets. The team is supported by Global Lending Support in Dublin and the ING hub in the Philippines. It aims to improve processes, standardisation, and digitalisation across Lending.
- Specific VP responsibilities include actively managing all facets of the individual files in your portfolio, including but not limited to :
Quarterly and annual credit reviews;
Process amendment and waiver requests, coordination of the credit approval process (draft / review credit modifications, financial analysis, cash-flow modelling and sensitivity analysis, sustainable transaction assessment, risk submissions and Q&A), follow-up on required legal amendments to documentation until execution;Review annual risk rating updates and anticipate potential risk migration;Diligent credit monitoring of covenants and operating performance, and tracking covenant compliance;Assessment of deal on product topics (including initial Leveraged Transaction assessment);Identification and resolution of Early Warning Signals, Unlikely to Pay, Forbearance, and Default risks.Monitor market developments and manage potential portfolio impact by :Preparing and maintaining regulator / internal reports;
Preparing quarterly CRM portfolio reviews;Maintaining department / industry databases and internal trackers;Maintaining internal portfolio tracking metrics;Responding to ad hoc portfolio-related requests;Coordinating with offshore portfolio support teams;Managing lending limits and Capital Velocity programs.Participate in Virtual Client Teams by :Interfacing with relationship managers and sector specialists on credit trends and opportunities;
Contributing ideas for cross-buy or client opportunities.Foster a culture of operational excellence by :Staying up to date on operating policies (Risk, Legal, etc.) and implementing protocols;
Contributing to strategic initiatives and improvements to credit monitoring;Identifying productivity trends and driving efficient processes;Supporting transformation projects;Coaching junior colleagues;Improving data quality monitoring and reporting.What are we looking for?
Qualifications / Education
University degree in business, economics, engineering or relevant discipline with above-average grades. CFA and / or MBA are a plus.Experience / Knowledge
5+ years of relevant experience in structuring Project Finance deals, preferably in the Energy sector in an international environment.Competencies
