Location : Ebury Madrid Office – 4 days a week, office-based (1 day from home).

Role

The Finance team is a strong and growing part of the business. We’re looking for someone who can support and challenge us in our journey to take finance to the next level. The Financial Controller will work within the Financial Control and Reporting (FC&R) team, reporting directly to the Head of Financial Reporting. The FC&R team is responsible for maintaining proper accounting records both locally and at a Group level, including internal and external IFRS and local GAAP reporting, as well as reporting to the parent company, Santander. The team handles complex accounting areas such as IFRS 9 and 13, IFRS 16, IAS 36, IAS 38, etc. The role involves establishing and enhancing control measures and identifying opportunities for Ebury to be more efficient and effective. You will contribute to delivering an efficient and effective Financial Control framework across global operations and will work with key business control owners throughout the organization.

This is a role that requires a high level of collaboration and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of all workstream areas within the FC&R team and provide technical support across areas.
• Oversee the implementation of effective internal controls and liaise between FC&R and internal control / internal audit functions.
• Become an expert on the Netsuite accounting system and act as a technical controller (maintenance of controls and chart of accounts, customization and automation projects).
• Contribute to financial reporting, including monthly analysis of subsidiary and / or group results (performance and review).
• Manage subsidiary audits, coordinating auditor requests and meeting deadlines.
• Perform technical accounting analyses as needed (e.g., accounting treatment for new FX products or IFRS 2).
• Support Santander and Regulatory reporting teams as needed.
• Lead ad-hoc projects or BAU workstreams and coordinate team efforts.
• Support the development of a culture of ownership and accountability to improve processes, controls, and systems.
• Proactively engage with functional areas across Ebury’s global operations and external parties, review processes, ensure appropriate controls, and advise on improvements to provide timely external reporting.
