About the Role :
As a Financial Crime Advisor, you’ll be part of Everest Insurance’s compliance function, spanning Dublin, London, Madrid, Paris, and Milan. You’ll engage with Financial Crime across our growing business, including branches in the UK (London), Netherlands (Rotterdam), Germany (Düsseldorf), France (Paris), Spain (Madrid), and Italy (Milan). You’ll also support our Syndicate at Lloyd’s.
This is a pivotal role within a fast-growing compliance team. You’ll work with the Financial Crime Manager and the wider Compliance Function to shape and expand our Financial Crime framework across European operations and Lloyd’s. The focus is delivering expert advice and support to the business while helping to future-proof sanctions systems and controls as we grow.
This role can be based in our Madrid or London office, with the flexibility to work remotely two days a week as part of our hybrid schedule.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the financial crime manager across all business and product lines, applying technical expertise and knowledge of AML, ABC, CFT, sanctions and fraud compliance.
- Assist in developing and enhancing AML, ABC, CFT, sanctions and fraud related systems and controls to remain fit for purpose, ensuring alignment across offices and entities.
- Act as the key point of contact for daily oversight and management of financial crime referrals and outputs / alerts from sanction screening tools.
- Regularly review and adjust the screening tool configuration to maintain robust oversight.
- Identify gaps or areas for improvement in oversight of third-party business partners via delegated underwriting and claims audit programmes.
- Serve as the main contact for referrals from delegated business with ongoing monitoring and oversight.
- Support the Financial Crime Manager on company-wide projects requiring SME input.
- Collaborate with the team to review first line procedures in line with the Compliance Function Monitoring Plan.
- Develop and deliver staff training, promoting best practices through attendance at committees and divisional meetings.
- Maintain AML, ABC, CFT, sanctions and fraud expertise by monitoring global / regional political movements and highlighting emerging risks affecting business lines.
Qualifications
Deep expertise in compliance with a strong track record navigating international financial crime and sanctions regulations, ideally within general insurance (company, managing agent, or MGA).Practical understanding of how regulations apply across business functions.Experience in KYC, CDD, AML, and global sanctions regimes (EU, UK, US, UN) and in fraud, bribery, corruption, and tax evasion.Proven ability to assess and enhance processes, systems, and controls, identifying gaps and strengthening risk management frameworks.Understanding of sanctions risks related to Specialty classes of business is highly desirable.Relevant professional qualification such as ACAMS, ACOI, ACII, ICA Diploma, or equivalent.Collaborative, execution-focused mindset with proactive problem-solving abilities.Clear communication, strong stakeholder relationship skills, and the ability to work in dynamic environments.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities independently.Ability to adapt quickly to change and maintain agility in evolving regulatory landscapes.Our Culture
