The Opportunity Hitachi Energy is looking for a seasoned expert to serve as the Control & Protection System Expert within the High Voltage Products business unit.
This role is pivotal in shaping and harmonizing secondary engineering practices across a wide range of products including GIS, PASS, DTB and LTB.
Your Responsibilities Analyze international specifications and customer requirements to define standardized secondary engineering solutions across HV products.
Ensure compliance with UL (ANSI) and IEC standards, identifying gaps and proposing solutions, including documentation and type testing.
Define and harmonize control cubicle (LCC) schemes and best practices across different power system configurations and business units.
Lead initiatives to reduce component variation, improve cost-efficiency, and enhance design consistency across HV products.
Evaluate and propose new component suppliers, supporting SCM in onboarding and PPAP processes.
Provide technical leadership in component selection, safety, manufacturing, and testing processes.
Drive continuous improvement and support R&D projects in the domain of Control & Protection.
Act as a technical advisor to GPMs and DtV projects, supporting feasibility assessments and early-stage concept reviews.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Sales, SCM, Quality, Engineers, Panel Builders, and Vendors.
Your Background Academic degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Over 10 years of experience in Secondary Engineering for High Voltage Products.
Deep knowledge of protection and control schemes in substations and utilities, including :
Relay setting calculations
CT / VT sizing
AC / DC load calculations
Cable and wire sizing
Panel design and building
Proficiency in E3 as an ECAD tool.
Strong leadership in driving continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
Experience collaborating across business units (GA, GI, TR, Service) and with global supplier networks.
