Back End Developer

Overview Origen.AI, an artificial intelligence startup focusing on the energy sector, is looking for a Backend Developer (Python) to join our team in Spain. Our technology models, simulates, and optimizes complex systems, with a focus on accelerating simulations. This role is based in Spain with a flexible hybrid approach (some days in the office, some days remote). To engage effectively with the North American team, the working hours are shifted later, finishing at 7 PM.

Responsibilities You will work in the Platform team, developing the Backend for PROTEUS, our SaaS client-facing platform.

You will build scalable services and components for a web-based complex architecture, deployed using CI in a cloud Kubernetes infrastructure. You will mainly use the Python programming language to write your code and tests.

You will support our Research team in making their cutting-edge algorithms industry-ready, tackling challenging problems to engineer scalable, performant, and maintainable AI solutions.

What We Expect from You To live in Spain and be eligible to work in Spain.

5+ years of professional experience.

Strong background in back-end development using one or more Python frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django, AIOHTTP).

Experience with real-time data processing using queue systems, MQTT, or similar technologies.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms; Azure experience is a strong plus.

Experience in managing and storing massive datasets.

Ability to clearly communicate ideas and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Proactive in suggesting and engaging in team collaborations to achieve ambitious development goals.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to contribute to complex AI challenges.

Experience building a Python back-end from scratch, including database design and HTTP server implementation.

Genuine interest in growing within one of the most innovative startups in the energy industry.

Experience coding following methodologies such as TDD.
