The Project Controls Manager leading a dedicated project controls team, this role drives accuracy in cost management, scheduling, and performance tracking to support the successful delivery large-scale EPC projects . By developing and implementing systematic procedures and a work methodology, the manager provides strategic insights that enable decision making enhancing project outcomes. Beyond ensuring accurate and transparent reporting, the position also drives a culture of commercial awareness, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all project control processes, contributing directly to the overall success and profitability of the business. Acting as a key partner to project teams, the Project Controls Manager plays a key role in shaping functional strategies and may own global processes and best practices that enhance results across projects.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Review and fully understand all relevant project documentation, including contracts, key conditions, and technical requirements.
- Develop and implement project controls procedures and work methodology in alignment with company standards.
- Clearly define primary objectives at both project and departmental levels, emphasizing schedule, budget, and cost requirements.
- Ensure project schedules, staffing plans and other key documentation are prepared, maintained, and issued in accordance with the approved project execution strategy.
- Ensure corporate methodologies, reporting standards, and workflows are effectively applied and optimized for efficiency.
- Oversee the preparation and issuance of cost reports, control curves, and forecasts in line with the project execution strategy.
- Monitor and compare main KPI´s and project performance, identifying variances and recommending timely corrective actions.
- Provide Project Managers and the Discipline Managers of the projects with accurate, up-to-date status reports across the project portfolio.
- Coordinate with other departments and task force members to align planning objectives and resolve cross functional issues.
- Accountable for project financial results, ensuring continuous monitoring of efficiency, contractual compliance, and planning. In coordination with the Project Director, responsible for the early identification and implementation of mitigation and / or negotiation measures to ensure established objectives.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports, forecasts, and dashboards to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.Minimum of 10-15 years of relevaperient professional experience within large EPC Projects (energy, infrastructure, oil&gas etc)Proven experience managing project controls for top-class clients , including international energy companies.Proficiency in project control software (Primavera P6,SAP, Excel etc)Demonstrated expertise in leading cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, change management, and cost analysis.Proven experience in directing planning and scheduling activities, including schedule development, monitoring, control, and performance analysis.Skilled in commercial risk identification such as; scope changes, productivity losses, resource allocation inefficiencies and implementing mitigation measuresStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work in fast-paced, multicultural environments and manage multiple priorities.Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.Availabity to travel and wor at siteCore Competencies
