Finance Business Partner – International at Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets (MRSGM)

Munich Re is a leading global provider of reinsurance, primary insurance and insurance-related risk solutions. This role sits within MRSGM, a division focusing on Primary Specialty Insurance. MRSGM places business via the Lloyds and Company Markets and International Distribution Companies. The division is undergoing ambitious transformation and geographic expansion initiatives, including project Gemini 2.0, to address mid-market commercial opportunities in new territories. The Expense Planning, Analysis & Partnering team supports these initiatives; a dedicated resource is required for the next stage of implementation.

Reporting to the Head of Expense Planning, Analysis & Partnering within the Finance department and working with stakeholders across MRSGM, Munich Re Risk Solutions Ireland (MRRSI), Munich RE Group and Great Lakes (carrier for geographic expansion initiatives), the role will collaborate with the business to help make key decisions. The role creates active partnerships that provide real-time support and analysis within HR and Accounts Payable and other areas, as well as with the Munich Re Group expense management teams.

The role supports Head of Expense Planning, Analysis & Partnering in delivering business objectives, including expense and headcount reporting and expense planning & analysis for geographic expansion initiatives, and shaping the infrastructure & processes to deliver these reporting & planning outputs. It will provide cost and resource transparency to support commercial decision-making and deliver insightful analysis to Europe and MRSGM management teams and project teams. It is expected to work closely with HR and Accounts Payable to implement processes supporting the geographic expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build a network of contacts around the business and across MRSGM, MRRSI, Munich Re Group branches of geographic expansion countries to support delivery of business objectives
• Model CFO Function values and behaviours to foster a positive team culture
• Communicate the story behind numbers clearly and confidently
• Handle confidential salary data with discretion
• Support projects in the scope of geographic expansion initiatives
• Plan, forecast & report on headcount, vacancies and salary costs for geographic expansion initiatives
• Perform bonus analysis & calculations including accruals and payment reconciliations
• Produce committee paper support and Statutory Accounts notes on remuneration
• Ensure salary, payroll, expense & headcount values reported via internal Power BI dashboards are accurate in cooperation with the Finance & Actuarial Transformation team
• Lead expense budgeting & forecasting processes within MRSGM for geographic expansion initiatives
• Manage accruals (recruitment, agency, legal, project-related fees) and true-ups
• Work with HR and finance to simplify and streamline processes across teams
• Support production of expense sections of monthly / quarterly management reports and annual plan presentations, including internal geographic expansion monitoring presentations to Munich Re Group Committees
• Collaborate with Expense Business Partners to understand and articulate actual expense base, plans & forecasts including cost drivers
• Adhere to the process and controls framework for the Expense Planning and Analysis team
• Work with the Reinsurance Controlling Team (RIC) in Munich to deliver expense planning and forecasting for geographic expansion initiatives
• Salary & open vacancy forecasting
• Support HR with reconciliation of headcount / roles
• Support production of Steering Committee presentations for HR matters / projects
• Support HR-related tax matters
