System Development Engineer, WW AMZL In House ControlsWe are seeking System Development Engineers to join our In-House Controls team within World-Wide Central Engineering. This global role requires a dynamic individual ready to travel and lead the deployment of cutting-edge automation solutions across our international network. The ideal candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, demonstrate Bias for Action, and be prepared to lead complex software development and implementation for automation systems.Basic Qualifications : - Professional software development experience (non-internship)- Experience with designing and creating architecture for scalable systems using modern design patterns- Proficiency in at least one programming language- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems- Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural contexts- Experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming languagePreferred Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations- Experience with CODESYS development environment- Experience building and delivering complex software systems to customers- Knowledge of industrial automation systems- Experience with building IoT solutions- Substantial experience in developing and implementing control system applications for industrial automationAdditional Requirements : - Willingness to travel up to 20% according to business needsKey job responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement software solutions for automation systems- Lead global deployments of software projects- Manage high-impact software releases to ensure minimal operational disruption- Train and mentor engineering team members- Drive continuous improvement initiatives- Contribute to engineering reviews, impacting solutions for systems and architecture- Analyze system performance and provide optimization recommendationsAbout the teamOur In-House Controls (IHC) team within World-Wide Central Engineering develops, deploys, and scales automated solutions globally. We deliver pioneering solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing and new facilities worldwide. IHC will develop and deploy the software for all future WW AMZL automation, from software design through to commissioning and deployment and operational on-call support.The key benefits of our approach include : - Standardised, integrator-agnostic control systems for all AMZL automation, reducing the requirement to develop and maintain bespoke solutions for each piece of automation.- Control of development, deployment, fault finding and future upgrades, removing dependency on vendors.- Generation of data and metrics to drive future improvements, removing dependency on vendors and ensuring comprehensive data collection.Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent, along with relevant non-internship professional software / system development experience, programming skills in at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby, experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, process improvement, and PLC programming.Additional desired skills include experience with CODESYS, building tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring, and knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
