Join to apply for the DevOps Engineer (Cloud Ops) role at Ionik Tech
Ionik , a premier IT service provider located in Malaga and Madrid, empowers progressive businesses to boost operational efficiency, enhance productivity, and accelerate revenue growth through tailored, strategic solutions. We go beyond analysis. We drive innovation.
What you'll do
Working side by side with the teams who design, build, and deliver our software, you'll ensure environments run smoothly and reliably across development, integration, test, and production-like stages, operating within a highly complex hybrid infrastructure.
Your role is to remove friction : from faster developer onboarding to consistent, production-aligned environments, while managing the lifecycle of VMs, containers, and shared services across multiple clouds and platforms. You'll make certain agile delivery isn't slowed by operational bottlenecks, compliance gaps, or manual interventions.
You'll be part of a high-energy CloudOps team whose mission is to provide resilient, standardised environments and to embed automation and IDP capabilities so developers can focus on coding rather than setup — ensuring our delivery practices scale efficiently, securely, and consistently.
Key responsibilities
Leverage Internal Developer Platform (IDP) capabilities to provision, manage and support environments in a standardized and self-service way.
Manage virtual machines lifecycle across multiple private cloud solutions, including builds, upgrades, patching and decommissioning.
Standardise developer environments and workflows to reduce "works on my machine" issues.
Provide 2nd-line operational support to development teams, including diagnosing build, deployment, and environment issues.
Automate repetitive tasks with Ansible, Terraform and GitLab pipelines to reduce manual operations.
Monitor and maintain environments, ensuring their full alignment.
Support CI / CD pipelines with environment readiness, configuration management and deployment verification.
Collaborate with other technical teams on capacity, scaling and environment reliability improvements.
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation, runbooks and self-service guides for development teams.
Contribute to golden images, base containers, and templates that speed up provisioning and ensure compliance.
Troubleshoot networking, DNS, certificates, and service discovery issues across multiple environments.
What you'll bring
Solid hands‐on experience with Linux administration, including networking, troubleshooting, and system‐level services in mission‐critical environments.
Proven track record in VM and container lifecycle management, with exposure to OpenStack, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes at scale. Strong expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible), applying automation to provisioning, configuration, and environment consistency.
In‐depth knowledge of CI / CD concepts and tooling (GitLab, Bamboo, Jenkins), with the ability to design and integrate environment workflows into pipelines; GitOps practices (ArgoCD, Helm, Kustomize) are highly valuable.
Practical experience with secrets management and access control solutions (Vault, Keycloak, or equivalent).
Working knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, ElasticSearch) and ability to provision, configure, and support DB teams with environment readiness.
Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash and Python, with the ability to build diagnostics and self‐service tooling.
Understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK / EFK), with experience in instrumenting environments for reliability.
A strong sense of ownership and accountability, balancing operational support with proactive improvements and long‐term stability.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with developers, testers, SREs, DBEs, and other DevOps functions.
Flexibility to operate across multiple environments and platforms, ensuring standardisation while adapting to specific team and project needs.
