Legal & Compliance Iberia Lead

About the role

Legal & Compliance Iberia Lead, provides a full range of legal and compliance advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations and privileges of the Spanish and Portuguese organisation. Represents the organisation to customers, suppliers, competitors and government agencies. Provides resolution of business or technical issues by identifying legal and compliance solutions and recommending a course of action. Examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.

Key responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following :

• Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance DACH & Southern Europe, as a Legal & Compliance Iberia Lead, you will be responsible for the provision of effective compliance and legal support to the Spanish and Portuguese Haleon business.
• Management of external advisors ensuring appropriate level of legal and compliance support across Spain and Portugal.
• Develop and recommend policies and practices on issues presenting potential legal and compliance risk.
• Counsel leadership of Spanish and Portuguese markets on legal, policy, compliance, transactional and commercial issues integrating legal and compliance knowledge with understanding of business and risk management.
• Engage external legal counsel interpreting pending or new legislation and regulatory rules affecting the business to ensure compliance or strategy changes when appropriate.
• Educate client businesses on sound legal and compliance practices and new developments affecting the business.
• Negotiate contracts of high value or legal sensitivity with external parties.
• Work with the business to ensure appropriate governance over other contracts and relevant compliance records.
• Manage litigation in accordance with Haleon’s strategy, working with Haleon’s Group Litigation Department.
• Review business, scientific, commercial, sales, and marketing communications, advising on appropriate strategy / language to manage risk while maximizing business benefit.
• Contribute to the development of Haleon strategy and risk management through active participation in regional teams and proactive work with Compliance, and global legal teams.
• Promote ethical decision-making and act as an advisor to ensure activities in the market are aligned with Haleon’s Code of Conduct and the core value of “Always Do the Right Thing.”
• Actively participate in activities related to our Compliance Program, which includes anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC), conflict of interest (COI), Speak Up and Privacy.
• Be the liaison for implementing the global anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC) program in the market, acting as the expert to advise global teams to ensure compliance with local legislation and requirements.
• Oversee compliance with relevant internal policies and procedures, keeping records of relevant documentation.
• Support compliance incident management and investigations.

Qualifications and skills

Education : Law degree

Qualified lawyer in Spain

8 years of experience practising as a lawyer advising on key laws (advertising of CH products, Competition Law, Commercial Law, Data Privacy and Anti-corruption Laws).

Experience as an in-house lawyer serving the employer client and the Business Partner.

Languages : Spanish and English at full working proficiency level.
