Accor is currently looking for a Legal Counsel for the Iberian Peninsula to join our offices in Madrid, reporting directly to the General Counsel & Compliance Officer of Accor in Iberia.
You will be part of a dynamic team, working on a variety of cross-departmental and international projects. This is a highly international and valued position, working closely with Legal colleagues at the Southern Europe level and with Accor’s branded hotels (both managed and franchised) in Spain & Portugal.
We are seeking a Native Portuguese speaker, member of Ordem dos Advogados in Portugal (this requirement is mandatory).
What is the job? The main responsibilities for Iberica, especially Portugal, include :
- Drafting, negotiating, and validating legal documents and contracts (hotel management agreements, franchise agreements, services agreements, IT contracts, partnerships, procurement, sales, general terms and conditions, notably in Portugal).
- Advising on all legal issues related to the field of activity, drafting summary notes.
- Managing pre-litigation and litigation processes, acting as the point of contact with external lawyers in Portugal.
- Handling corporate law matters in Portugal.
- Advising operational staff and support departments on contract law, economic law (distribution, competition), and commercial law, supporting various business departments on franchising and management (operations, development, finance, marketing, sales, distribution, IT, call center).
- Participating in projects and working groups related to these areas.
- Training and raising awareness among operational and support staff on legal and operational issues.
- Identifying legislative and jurisprudential developments, assessing risks, and proposing solutions.
- Collaborating with other lawyers and colleagues within the Hub and the wider Accor network.
- Maintaining a database of leases, management, and franchise agreements via the Group's central information system (“CMT”).
- Maintaining the Iberia legal intranet, updating legal information, and rolling out internal policies.
- Knowledge of data protection laws is a plus.
What are we looking for?
Law Master’s degree from Portugal.5-7 years of experience in legal roles, ideally a mix of in-house and private practice.Member of any Portuguese Bar Association, capable of drafting and approving Powers of Attorney and other legal documents for Portuguese subsidiaries.Experience working in international environments.Focus on business, strategic vision, and proven ability to serve as a business partner.Strong knowledge of commercial and corporate law.Experience with Portuguese legislation is mandatory;Spanish legislation knowledge is a plus.Knowledge of data protection laws is a plus.Required Skills
