Job Description : Several positions of Project Test Engineer for Flight Hardware Equipment are now open in Airbus CRISA (Airbus Defense & Space) in Tres Cantos (Madrid area) for different Space business : Launchers, Earth Exploration (Copernicus), Space Exploration (Artemis), Commercial (Telecommunications Satellites). This is an opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic Technical Team focused on innovations and delivering robust test solutions for space hardware.
Overview The Candidate is part of the Project with the main mission of preparing and performing the qualification of the design of electronic units using development and qualification models (EBB / EM / EQMs), and accepting flight deliverables (FMs) to achieve unit delivery in accordance with project schedule, cost and quality requirements. Reporting line : to the Test Manager; the Test Manager is the Responsible for the validation of the design, and the Candidate will be part of the Test Manager Extended Team with other test engineers and test technicians. The Test Engineer’s tasks cover the complete development of an electronic equipment from requirements analysis (Negotiation Phase) to the acceptance campaign of flight deliverables after qualification of the unit. The team collaborates with the Technical Manager, Project Manager, Product Assurance Manager, Industrial Manager and EEE / PCB Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities Assist the Test Manager in technical discussions with the customer during the Negotiation Phase, up to in-flight operations of the Space System.
Assist in requirement assessment and risk identification; contribute to defining the EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) architecture; provide technical supervision of EGSE development and participate in the EGSE validation test campaign.
Support the Technical Manager for technical issue resolution, in collaboration with domain experts under quality and programmatic rules.
Prepare Validation documentation : Verification Control Document, Test Plan, detailed Test Procedures (Electrical & Functional, Environmental, EMC, etc.) to support design and manufacturing robustness across project milestones (Requirement Review, Preliminary and Architecture Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, Test Review Board).
Participate in coding of test sequences (Python or other languages) to maximize test coverage; perform final validation of test sequences on engineering models (EBB, EM, etc.) or specific test setups.
Execute integration, qualification and acceptance test campaigns for corresponding models (EQM, QM, PFM, FMs); develop jigs and fixtures as needed (tooling, vibration and thermal fixtures, etc.).
Prepare test reports and test as-run information with relevant campaign data.
Monitor deviations and discrepancies of measured parameters relative to expected values; maintain close alignment with project objectives.
Maintain a customer-oriented approach and foster trust through proactive support to demonstrate confidence in design and manufacturing.
Required skills Master degree or equivalent in engineering or science (Electronic specialty).
At least two years of experience in the Validation and Verification of Electronic Units.
Advanced level in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
Experience with generic laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc.).
Experience in software programming (Python, C++, C#, etc.).
Technical excellence and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Digital mindset (automation of tasks, scripting, use of digital design tools and simulators).
Excellent communication and reporting skills; customer oriented; strong teamwork.
Independent and autonomous work style.
Availability to work occasionally in the evening shift or on weekends.
Ability to work under pressure.
Recommended skills Experience in environmental testing (vibration, shock, thermal and thermal vacuum).
Experience in EMC radiated and conducted testing.
Experience in Power, Analog electronics or Digital design.
Knowledge of space environment constraints and ECSS regulations.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Technical knowledge of advanced test instrumentation and test automation scripting and data management.
Willingness to learn and teach others.
