Overview The DNS Squad (consisting of 12 team members) holds the end-to-end responsibility for the resolving and authoritative DNS systems for Deutsche Telekom AG. These platforms are part of the critical infrastructure and are central core components of our German network. We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team for our DNS platforms. These platforms are resolving DNS Requests for mobile & fixed networks but also for IoT. The Team is responsible for the entire lifecycle and further development. You will be working closely with our supplier and DevOps engineers to design integrate deploy monitor and troubleshoot DNS platforms.
Responsibilities Implementation and operation of physical virtualized and containerized system environments
Focus on streamlining Upgrade & Patch processes for all our platforms
Analysis troubleshooting and documentation of system malfunctions
Regular checks and refinement of automated processes and strategies such as failover deployment and disaster recovery to ensure a highly available and resilient system with minimum recovery time
Identification documentation and structuring of new test use cases
Optimization (Development) of scripts (Ansible Bash Perl Python)
Implementing changes in test reference and productive systems to enhance system stability and / or provide new features
Cooperate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality
Collaborate closely with the German operations team to streamline processes enhance software tools and system performance and apply innovative technologies and concepts. Being oncall for round about 8 Weeks per year and rarely perform tasks outside of regular working hours
Qualifications Proficiency in Linux OS (RH SLES)
Good experience in using and adapting Ansible Playbooks
Knowledge in automation
Hands-on experience of monitoring systems and data analytics (Prometheus Medusa)
Will be a plus fundamental knowledge of DNS (PowerDNS DoH / DoT / DoQ)
Preferably you have worked in a TelCo company
Optional skills Very good analytical skills combined with strong quality awareness
Experience in classic and agile forms of cooperation
