We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer in the PDX Cluster.
As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Project Design Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, remediate issues, upgrade our existing infrastructure, or add new services. You will be the "go‑to" engineering resource for these projects and will provide lifecycle support from design through implementation. Your electrical expertise will be used to :
- Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and / or increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for data centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external design teams, server hardware, environmental health & safety, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert during new remediation projects.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
Key Job Responsibilities
Possess strong engineering judgment and provide design recommendations despite uncertainty.Detail and data oriented with familiarity with design / construction processes.Manage engineering projects and contractors.Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (Operations, Commissioning, Construction, Design).Manage design and as‑built drawings and documents.Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders.Be inclined to visit the field to see things up close.Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.3+ cumulative years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities including data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities.3+ years of experience with data center builds, network engineering, and systems engineering.Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.Experience as a resident design engineer or hands‑on (field) design consultant.Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.Experience with a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.Registered Professional Engineer.Amazon is an equal‑opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
