Director of Food Safety (Relocation to Israel)
An established global food manufacturer is seeking a Director of Food Safety to lead and evolve its Food Safety and Sanitation Strategy across operations in Israel, with potential influence across global sites.
This pivotal role ensures consumer safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across nine manufacturing and logistics facilities.
You will be the organization's senior authority on all food safety and sanitation matters, driving strategy, compliance, and innovation.
The position requires partnering cross-functionally with quality leaders, plant managers, R&D, procurement, and suppliers to uphold the highest industry standards while embedding a culture of safety and continuous learning. The position reports to the VP of Quality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and governance of food safety and sanitation programs across multiple manufacturing sites.
Approve and oversee Food Safety, Sanitation, Pest Control, HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, GMP, and FSMA programs.
Conduct and publish data‐driven risk assessments of suppliers, raw materials, and global food safety trends, supporting strategic decision‐making.
Advise on and approve change‐management initiatives that may impact food safety.
Identify and implement advanced technologies and digital systems that support site performance, monitoring, and predictive risk management.
Monitor key quality and food safety metrics, support sites to close gaps, and elevate systemic issues when required.
Build capability and foster a strong culture of food safety and continuous improvement across all sites.
Leadership
Directly manage a Food Safety Implementation Specialist and collaborate with site quality and food safety managers in a matrix environment.
Influence and guide multidisciplinary teams across nine factories to ensure standardization and scalability of food safety practices.
MUST Requirements
10+ years of experience in quality / food safety roles within high‐volume food or beverage manufacturing (FMCG).
5+ years leading food safety programs in a multi‐site or large manufacturing environment.
Deep knowledge of HACCP, GMP, FSMA, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, and other leading certification regimes.
Strong technical understanding of chemistry, microbiology, toxicology, allergens, and sanitation methods.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Engineering, or related discipline.
Excellent English communication skills — verbal and written.
Proven experience developing professional risk assessments to support strategic decisions.
Nice to Have

Experience introducing advanced or digital food safety technologies.
Experience in a matrix or multinational organization.
Background in snacks, dairy, beverages, plant‐based, coffee, or packaging industries.
