The License team is a central function in Orange Business, managed by our Head of Procurement & Licensing. This team is a group of expert advisors on Software Asset Management and licensing, and their mission is to ensure that we and our customers are using correct licenses and stay compliant with licensing agreements. This is a growing specialized field in Orange Business with a high impact on the organization and the potential to influence how we implement this across Europe.

Your role

As a Software Asset Manager, you will :

Collaborate with the Head of Procurement & Licensing to help shape the future of Software Asset Management and license advisory in the new business area. You will focus on ensuring correct license usage, driving cost optimization, and contributing to new revenue streams through advisory and business development.

The Software Asset Manager is a crucial part of our team, serving as a partner and representative for Orange Business Group's License Competence Hub. This role operates at the group level and involves collaboration with nearly all departments within Orange Business across multiple countries, with a primary focus on the Norwegian and Swedish markets. You will be involved in audits, process development, and providing advisory support to different departments.

Additionally, this role presents an opportunity to contribute to the establishment and management of new revenue streams in Orange Business, advising on existing and new licensing solutions and working with sales teams to serve our customers. Some travel to other countries within the group will be required.

Main responsibilities

  • Establish and further develop our global SAM governance and processes
  • Provide advice on licensing for Microsoft, VMware, RedHat, Oracle and IBM among other types of software licenses
  • Drive efficiencies and cost savings through license optimization and SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Support sales teams in customer dialogues and contribute to new business opportunities
  • Lead improvement initiatives within SAM, sourcing, and contract management
  • Act as a knowledge hub and educate the organization on licensing issues
  • Participate in audits, negotiations, and process development
  • Ensure accurate reporting to management and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Asset Management in a large IT organization
  • Deep knowledge of licensing models and compliance
  • Experience working with complex IT environments and international teams
  • Deep knowledge of Software licensing terms and rules with either Microsoft, VMware or Redhat
  • Knowledge around hardware on clients and server side and impact on licensing
  • Strong financial acumen and Excel skills
  • Very good communication skills (both written and spoken) in English
  • A structured, analytical mindset with the ability to engage with all levels
  • Experience with SAM tools, preferably Service NOW SAM Pro
  • Nice to have

  • Experience in Software Asset Management at a managed service provider
  • Relevant SAM / ITAM certifications
  • Experience with contract management, project management, sourcing or product management
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure, M365 and cloud economics
  • Knowledge of IBM, RedHat, Oracle license agreements, terms and conditions
