Payroll Officer Portugal – Based in Barcelona
Based in our Southern Europe hub in Barcelona, you will coordinate and execute the full payroll process for both Spain and Portugal. You will manage and run the payroll for employees in Spain directly and coordinate the Portuguese payroll with our external payroll provider, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant execution in line with local legislation in both countries.
Responsibilities
- Handle new hires, salary updates, terminations, tax and social security deductions, and payroll reporting for the Spanish payroll.
- Maintain accurate employee data across systems and ensure efficient integration between systems (e.g., Staffplanner, GPCN), collaborating with the accounting team on payments and reconciliations.
- Coordinate daily with the external payroll provider for the Portuguese payroll, manage incidents, and provide ongoing support for a smooth and compliant process.
- Manage personnel administration tasks such as contracts, travel expenses, benefits, and onboarding support.
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries in both Spain and Portugal, liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders, including authorities, auditors, and service providers.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to optimize payroll efficiency and quality.
Who You Are
4+ years of experience in HR generalist roles or payroll covering the Portuguese market.Knowledge of Portuguese payslip, labor, tax, and social security regulations.High attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive data.Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative mindset.Fluency in Portuguese and English.Motivation to take on new payroll projects and contribute to continuous process improvement.Previous experience with Staffplanner, Primavera, and GPCN is a plus.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple stakeholders and parallel processes.Who We Are
