  • Ericsson’s Core Network Engineering Unit plays a pivotal role in our industry-leading Packet Core portfolio, serving as the cornerstone of our technological leadership. The Product Development Unit Packet Core (PDU PC) is dedicated to maintaining its market leadership, excelling in the 5G landscape, and continuously driving innovation in a highly competitive market. We are committed to innovation, sustainability, and teamwork, fostering an inclusive environment where professionals from all backgrounds can thrive and grow. You will join a collaborative team of System Managers (also known as System Engineers) within PDU PC software development, actively participating in early project phases. This role is equivalent to a System Engineer position within the telecom industry, with a focus on system behavior, functionality, and feature studies in the User Plane area. Success in this role will be demonstrated by contributing to the delivery of 5G solutions, advancing PCG product capabilities, and driving results within our software development organization. This position offers excellent growth potential, with opportunities to advance to Senior System Manager, System Architect, or, through Solution Line connections, a Strategic Product Manager role.
  • What you will do
  • Work in the 5G Packet Core User Plane area, mainly in UPF / PGW-U (PCG / EPG)
  • Provide the technical network / black box system perspective for your area
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, ensuring accuracy and ownership of selected artifacts : Markdown documentation, update requirements in T-reqs portal
  • Conduct system studies to ensure compliance with industry standards : Review RFCs (Request for Comments), 3GPP Technical specifications, prepare presentation materials
  • Support development teams with a feature-system perspective during the development lifecycle. Clarify and review requirements in Gerrit
  • Review and approve Customer Product Information (CPI) at both area and feature levels
  • Assist customers via market support in sales and maintenance processes
  • Embrace challenges such as working with requirements, supporting development teams, defining sustainable and resilient products, and aligning with our Core Network Engineering (CNE) strategy
  • You will bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Previous Ericsson Packet Core experience as a senior developer or design architect
  • Extensive and comprehensive software development experience
  • Solid knowledge of IP and Networking protocols as well as 5GC networks and Cloud Native architecture in areas such as : o 5GC architecture o QUIC o HTTP o TCP and UDP o PFCP o 3GPP standards
  • Traffic Management competence : traffic analysis, classification, enforcement, reporting, and analytics
  • Value-Added Functions : traffic optimizations, NAT (Network Address Translation), and security enhancements
  • Valuable / learnable skills : experience working with telecom requirements, coding and architecture knowledge that can be further developed in the role
  • A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable mindset with enthusiasm for continuous personal and professional development
