At The Roadmap, we’ve helped over 300 Irish businesses grow fast, and now we’re expanding into the UK, Spain, and beyond. As our team grows, we’re looking for a skilled, experienced, and highly reliable Senior Web Developer to join our core website delivery team. This is a hybrid freelance role based in Madrid, with 2 days per week in our central Madrid office, and the rest remote. If it’s a great fit, there’s a clear pathway to move into a full-time role with more responsibility and leadership opportunity over time. You’ll work on a wide range of websites, mostly WordPress and Shopify, helping bring technical excellence, problem-solving ability, and long-term thinking to every project. What You’ll Be Doing

Build and maintain websites on WordPress and Shopify

Handle custom technical tasks beyond the scope of junior devs, from integrations to performance fixes

Provide quick, clear answers to internal team questions, and occasional email replies to clients via managers

Support hosting setups, domain transfers, backups, and email configurations

Solve technical issues quickly and clearly, helping us deliver great work on time

Stay up to date with modern web UI, smart automation tools, and AI applications in web delivery

Collaborate with a stable, experienced team who’ve worked together for 3, 4, or 5+ years

You’ll Be A Good Fit If You Have

Has 5+ years of hands-on web development experience (ideally 7 to 10)

Is fluent in WordPress and Shopify, and has worked across many client websites

Knows HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ideally Python too (bonus)

Understands hosting platforms like Hostinger, SiteGround, and others, and knows how to make websites live

Communicates clearly and honestly, and can explain tech issues without jargon

Can work independently, and be part of a long-term team that’s building smart systems

Doesn’t cut corners or overcomplicate, just delivers what’s needed, at a high standard

Wants to grow with a team that cares about good work, trust, and doing things right
