How will you make an impact in this role
This position is part of the Colleague Experience Group (CEG) function and reports to the Director - Global Colleague Privacy (GCP).
Global Colleague Privacy is a First Line of Defense privacy team who are key contributors to both the colleague value proposition and the American Express assessing and managing global privacy risk as it relates to both colleagues and candidates is critical to the CEG function. The Global Colleague Privacy Manager will ensure compliance with internal and external requirements related to colleague privacy globally.
Responsibilities
- Providing first line privacy guidance to all global CEG teams using colleague or candidate data.
- A global remit with particular focus on emerging legislative or regulatory data protection and privacy requirements across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
- Lead and manage CEG EMEA Data Subjects Rights (DSR) regulatory processes.
- Partnering with global compliance teams, first and second line privacy teams and various General Counsels Organization (GCO) teams and other stakeholders in overseeing privacy legal & regulatory change management.
- Partnering with the Enterprise privacy oversight function in Global Privacy Oversight to reach CEG alignment on all required reporting and escalation activities as appropriate.
- Close collaboration with Colleague and Labor Relations and Market CEG teams to understand local obligations with respect to engagement with Works Councils or other employee forums, working hand-in-hand to meet global standards, local and internal requirements.
- Fostering a culture of colleague privacy and risk awareness within CEG by advocating for early collaboration with the team, accountability and sharing of best practices.
- Ensuring that GCP remains a trusted partner to the CEG organization and various business units across the Enterprise in supporting them to meet their expectations
- Performing and / or documenting and supporting comprehensive risk assessments, control development, tracking and reporting of key privacy risks.
- Support and lead for CEG critical privacy program initiatives such as Digital Trackers (cookies), record of processing activities (ROPA), CEG privacy notice transformation, regulatory change management (RCM), etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Experienced privacy professional with 5 years of experience and a strong privacy management background / knowledge; CIPP or other privacy qualification5 years of previous experience in privacy or a risk management discipline such as compliance or auditUnderstanding of how legal and regulatory requirements are interpreted and can be implemented across various CEG processes; strong awareness of current and upcoming regulatory change and experience in project management to lead applicable internally associated changes.Working experience of key privacy legislation such as GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, Artificial Intelligence Laws / Regulations, Data Subject Rights etc.An understanding of how colleague privacy and processes involving candidate or colleague data are managed in alignment with Global Privacy requirements and in consideration of other risk functions (e.g. Compliance, Third Party, Enterprise Resiliency)Strong and proven decision-making skills and the ability to resolve complex problems independentlyHighly organized, strong analytical, project management and leadership experience and problem-solving skills and proficiency in managing multiple priorities simultaneously and meeting key deliverables as required and on time.Experience driving transformation and change initiativesExcellent written, verbal communication and presentation skillsComfortable working with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organizationAbility to quickly re-prioritize work based on changing or competing prioritiesDemonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships to foster a culture of risk awareness and engagement and mobilize changeProcess enhancement mindset; ability to identify areas for improvement in existing processes and shape and drive recommendations for changeDemonstrate business acumen, credibility and judgment both independently and in collaboration with compliance, business, GCO and other colleaguesBenefits
