Building Engineer / MEP Engineer

Overview Our Madrid office is growing and we are recruiting for an Engineer / Building Architect to join our thriving team. Working closely within our multi-skilled team, you can expect a fast-paced role with exposure to a lucrative client base. You will take on a variety of instructions across MEP and building surveying including project management, Technical Due Diligence, ESG / sustainability, condition and acquisition surveys and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1-2 years’ experience to develop their skillset to become a well-rounded consultant, and to become part of an exceptional team that will support the delivery and strategy of Hollis’ building services in Spain and beyond.

Responsibilities Producing pre-acquisition and disposal technical due diligence reports

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance reports, net-zero-carbon reports, energy audits, life cycle costing and plant replacement projects in different building types

Support in the delivery of MEP-focused Technical Due Diligence (TDD) reports, including the assessment of mechanical and electrical systems, condition surveys, and compliance checks

Participate in sustainability-driven MEP initiatives, helping to integrate ESG principles into system design and operation, and supporting low-carbon and energy-efficient solutions

Offer MEP support to the team for any project needs

Support Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) : Assist with site visits, data collection, and report preparation for Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including historical research and regulatory database reviews

Contribute to ESG Reporting : Help gather and analyse environmental data (e.g., energy consumption, water usage, waste generation) for ESG reports, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with relevant frameworks

Assist with Sustainability Certifications : Provide support for LEED and BREEAM certification processes, including documentation preparation, credit analysis, and coordination with project teams

Work closely with the surveying / building architect team, getting involved in delivery of generalist building engineer instructions as desired

Your Profile Relevant degree in Building Services Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc. or equivalent

Minimum ~1-2 years experience within a building engineer / architectural / surveying or technical consultant role

Proficient in English and Spanish, both written and verbal

Flexible to travel and complete work / site visits across Europe (and UK if required)

Excellent report writing and communication skills are required

Confident with business development along with managing and building relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and other external contacts

Knowledgeable in statutory compliance, regulations and standards relating to operational / existing building services in Spain

Working knowledge of and ability to identify and provide professional advice for MEP building services
