Overview

Medical Director - Ophthalmology (REMOTE - EMEA) at Parexel. The Medical Director is a medical expert with specialized ophthalmology expertise and experience in CRO or pharmaceutical settings. This role can be based remotely in select EMEA locations.

Responsibilities

Medical Monitoring Delivery & PV Support : independently deliver medical support for projects according to the contracted agreement and assigned role (Global Lead Physician or Regional Lead Physician).

Maintain medical and consultative relationships with clients; consult on early engagement and pre-award efforts; act as medical monitor for contracted projects.

Lead, mentor, or manage a team of physicians where appropriate; participate in initiatives to support medical excellence.

Provide medical consultation in protocol development or drug development programs; perform medical review of documents; contribute to internal therapeutic area meetings, training, publications, and related materials.

Client relationship building and engagement : solicit and address client feedback regarding medical study activities.

Business development : provide medical expertise / leadership in Proposal Development Teams for client bid pursuits.

Qualifications

Medical qualification with specialty in Ophthalmology; certified Ophthalmologist; up-to-date clinical practice in ophthalmology.

Experience in clinical medicine (general or specialist) with a background in clinical aspects of drug development, including medical monitoring and study design / execution (preferred).

Knowledge of the drug development process including drug safety (preferred).

Experience in Pharmaceutical Medicine and in leading, mentoring, and managing individuals or teams (preferred).

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; client-focused; strong English language proficiency.

Education

Medically qualified with completion of basic medical training (residency / internship).

Certified Ophthalmologist.
