Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Communications (Photovoltaics)

Join the Nature Portfolio team as an Associate or Senior Editor and work with cutting‑edge research in photovoltaic technologies. The position is hybrid and is offered in our offices in Berlin, Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Milan and Madrid.

Responsibilities

  • Handle original research papers in device physics, chemistry and materials science with a focus on photovoltaic technologies.
  • Work closely with other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review.
  • Make well‑reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
  • Determine the journal’s representation of the subject area.
  • Liaise extensively with editors at other Nature journals and with experts in the international scientific community.
  • Attend conferences and visit research institutions to stay informed of the latest advances.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in physics or materials science, with expertise in organic solar cells, perovskite solar cells, perovskite optoelectronics, or tandem solar cells.
  • Experience with applied computational methods and machine learning is preferred but not essential.
  • Postdoctoral research experience is preferred but not essential. A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of the subject is essential.
  • A passion for science and engineering and a desire to learn more. You must be able to demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research both within and beyond your specialty and across the wider fields of electrical and electronic engineering and energy infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Eagerness to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about them and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish.
  • Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply.
