More about the role
We’re looking for a Lighting Controls Systems Technical Designer to join our European Indoor Engineering team in Madrid .
In this role, you will :
Translate Design Intent : Interpret and convert the lighting designer’s product vision into precise, functional technical specifications.
Technical Ownership : Define and manage all technical specifications—both Signify and third-party components—including detailed Scopes of Work for installation partners.
Collaborative Engineering : Work closely with Technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Proposal Managers, and project teams to assess feasibility and support design-to-cost initiatives.
System Architecture : Analyze lighting designs to determine appropriate system building blocks and control strategies.
Design Preparation : Develop lighting control system designs incorporating both proprietary and third-party equipment as required.
Documentation & Deliverables : Prepare comprehensive system documentation including architecture drawings, product data sheets, and wiring diagrams, adhering to defined timelines.
Proposal Support : Contribute to proposals by creating visual and written representations of the control scheme to clearly convey design intent and impact.
Effort Estimation : Estimate engineering execution hours based on scope and system complexity for inclusion in the business case by the Proposal Manager.
Project Tracking : Accurately log time spent on design activities using the appropriate tracking system.
System Integration : Collaborate with SMEs and System Engineers to seamlessly integrate lighting control systems with the broader lighting plan and solution offering.

Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or related Engineering discipline
Experience with lighting controls and system architecture preferred
Strong understanding of building technologies, IoT, or automation systems is a plus
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools for technical drawing / documentation
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
Comfortable working in cross-functional, international teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsseeking
