Who we are looking for

We seek a senior optical engineer specializing in ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs). The successful candidate will play a key role in Inmersia’s R&D, leading the development of custom FLC optical elements for near-eye displays and serving as a technical advisor in external projects with industry and academic partners.

What you will do

  • Design and develop FLC optical elements for near-eye displays.
  • Act as an in-house technical advisor for collaboration projects with industrial and academic partners.
  • Support the transition from R&D to scalable production.
  • Assist the patent attorney in drafting patents for inventions during the R&D process.

Technical skills required Absolute essentials

  • Deep understanding of FLC materials and their electrical and optical properties.
  • Experimental experience in developing FLC optical elements.
  • Ability to characterize electrical and optical properties of FLC elements.
  • Knowledge of FLC alignment methods, both cutting-edge and industrially established.
  • Understanding of substrate materials used in FLC optical elements.
  • Valuable extras

  • Experience developing custom electro-optical simulations of FLC optical elements.
  • Knowledge of scalable manufacturing methods for FLC optical elements.
  • Understanding of refractive and diffractive optics.
  • Educational requirements

  • PhD in Optics or Material Science focusing on FLC optical elements, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Or a Master’s degree in a similar field with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
