Who we are looking for

We seek a senior optical engineer specializing in ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs). The successful candidate will play a key role in Inmersia’s R&D, leading the development of custom FLC optical elements for near-eye displays and serving as a technical advisor in external projects with industry and academic partners.

What you will do

Design and develop FLC optical elements for near-eye displays.
Act as an in-house technical advisor for collaboration projects with industrial and academic partners.
Support the transition from R&D to scalable production.
Assist the patent attorney in drafting patents for inventions during the R&D process.

Technical skills required Absolute essentials

Deep understanding of FLC materials and their electrical and optical properties.

Experimental experience in developing FLC optical elements.

Ability to characterize electrical and optical properties of FLC elements.

Knowledge of FLC alignment methods, both cutting-edge and industrially established.

Understanding of substrate materials used in FLC optical elements.

Valuable extras

Experience developing custom electro-optical simulations of FLC optical elements.

Knowledge of scalable manufacturing methods for FLC optical elements.

Understanding of refractive and diffractive optics.

Educational requirements

PhD in Optics or Material Science focusing on FLC optical elements, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Or a Master’s degree in a similar field with 7 years of relevant experience.

Professional proficiency in English.
