AWS Solutions Architect / 12 Month Contract / Europe
Job Summary
AWS Solutions Architects are experienced professionals who design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions on Amazon Web Services. They leverage AWS best practices to meet business objectives, drive innovation, and ensure operational excellence. This role involves strategic planning, architecture design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality AWS-based solutions.
Solution Design and Implementation
- Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure AWS architecture.
- Develop architecture diagrams and reference models using AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Implement AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPC following best practices.
- Promote adoption of AWS-native solutions for modernization and cost optimization.
Strategic Planning
Align AWS solutions with organizational goals and cloud strategy.Provide recommendations for long-term AWS adoption and migration roadmaps.Monitor and optimize AWS workloads for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency using tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.Work closely with application teams, DevOps, and security teams to deliver AWS-based solutions.Ensure seamless integration of AWS services with existing systems.Troubleshoot complex AWS infrastructure issues and provide root cause analysis.Documentation and Learning
Document AWS architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.Stay current with AWS service updates and emerging cloud technologies.Security and Compliance
Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, KMS encryption, and network security.Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) using AWS Config and Audit Manager.Conduct security assessments leveraging AWS Security Hub and GuardDuty.Leadership
Mentor junior engineers on AWS technologies and best practices.Lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.Drive AWS adoption initiatives and contribute to organizational cloud maturity.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).8+ years in cloud engineering roles, with at least 5 years focused on AWS.Deep knowledge of AWS services, architecture patterns, and Well-Architected principles.Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK).Experience with CI / CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, or similar tools.Expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Amazon ECS / EKS).Solid understanding of AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect).Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party solutions.AWS Professional certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional required; additional certifications like Security Specialty or DevOps Engineer preferred).Core Competencies
