Lead Data Engineer

Overview

OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides price transparency across the global fuel supply chain, including the Spot, Wholesale Rack and Retail markets. OPIS enables customers to buy and sell energy commodities with confidence via multi-platform access to data, real-time news, software and educational events. OPIS focuses on reliability, personalized customer service and continuous innovation to meet energy stakeholder needs.

OPIS is expanding its software development team. This role joins a fast-growing group that will be a key part of global OPIS Product Development. The team will work closely with OPIS Product Development HQ in Gaithersburg, US. We are seeking a candidate with a blend of strong technical capabilities and interpersonal skills.

Your Responsibilities

• Work independently on large and complex projects
• Deliver value to customers, the organization and the team with limited supervision
• Represent the team in collaboration with technical and functional partners to build data solutions that transform raw data into insight
• Research and evaluate technology choices and implementation options that align with company data strategies
• Balance multiple stakeholders' interests and manage expectations with technical expertise and critical thinking
• Host presentations and create documentation that explains complex concepts clearly
• Demonstrate strategic thinking and execution based on well-reasoned decisions and tradeoffs
• Embrace agile development and CI / CD practices
• Pursue high quality in all work
• Take pride in your work and own it
