What is my mission?
Your first mission in XFuel is to assist in the automation of our core conversion & upgrading technologies. You will use the latest technology to improve, streamline and automate our plant processes, reducing the need for human interaction and maximising efficiency. You will be responsible for the planning, implementing, operating and monitoring of systems. We are seeking an automation engineer with a robust background in electronics and instrumentation.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in assembling complete PLC systems, encompassing both digital and analogue sensors to variable frequency drives. Additionally, the candidate must be able to program basic automation and develop straightforward Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for pilot plants and testing environments. Proficiency with Siemens PLCs and associated systems will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing all tasks required to deliver a complete automation system for a chemical process at pilot scale, while also guiding and supporting the team in scaling up to demo and full commercial operations. Work in collaboration with the team to define the process control philosophy in a continuous optimisation framework. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals that possess future leadership capabilities. Specific responsibilities will include(but not limited to) :
Identifying new opportunities for automation within industrial processes
Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired
Designing, programming and implementing new process control and automation systems, specifically with Siemens & Beckhoff
Procuring relevant sensors and actuators for process control systems
Writing technical reports outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiency
Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
Training operating staff after modifying or implementing new processes or equipment
Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur
We’re looking for someone who :
Has 5+ years relevant experience in designing and implementing industrial process automation and control systems
Consistent track record of working on and collectively delivering sophisticated projects
Understanding of renewable energy concepts, trends, and economics
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, including integration of sensors, electrical equipment, and motor controls to test communication and functionality
Familiarity with Siemens and Beckhoff PLC systems (or similar), with proven ability to design, configure, and troubleshoot
Experience in data collection and processing, with knowledge of machine learning applications considered a strong advantage for driving efficiency improvements
Ability to work fluidly and effectively across business, operations, engineering, and industrial teams
Excellent and clear communication skills for team-based working and external parties.
