Overview Head of Data, Analytics & DS&AI, Finance & M&A (F&MA) at Novartis. Location : Prague, Czech Republic; Barcelona, Spain (12 days / month in office). Internal job title : Head DDIT F&MA Data, Analytics & DS&AI. The role is based in Prague or Barcelona. About The Role The Head of Data, Analytics & DS&AI, Finance & Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) will join our DD&IT Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team, and independently lead Data or Data Science and AI global initiatives, F&MA elements of the overall Enterprise and Divisional Data or Data Science Strategy to contribute to solving unmet medical needs, in collaboration with various stakeholders. This role will model a culture of analytical and data-driven decision making and data sciences across Novartis leadership in Finance & M&A DDIT as well as related business teams. It will be responsible for providing technical expertise and taking accountability for significant projects, shaping future direction for the own part of the organization based on the overall organization strategy provided by business and DDIT leadership, while empowering the team and providing guidance and coaching.

Key Responsibilities Lead a function of experts and teams for DS&AI, coach and empower Data professionals and Data Scientists across Novartis.

Develop and execute roadmap for the Finance & M&A team to innovate in all business areas in scope by transforming the way to solve a problem using effective data management, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Strategically coordinate, prioritize and efficiently allocate team resources to critical initiatives : plan resources proactively, anticipate and manage change, set stakeholder expectations, identify operational risks and drive issues to resolution, balance priorities and minimize surprise escalations.

Lead the design, development and delivery of data science based insights and innovations to drive faster, timely, precise, actionable decision making based on data and science; shape the strategic glidepath of the company.

Design, develop and deliver master data, data governance, and data quality initiatives to drive business priorities and scale foundational capabilities to support data science initiatives and data-driven decision making.

Act as a catalyst for innovation in Data management, Data Science and AI, contributing to development of Novartis data management and data science capabilities; select innovative methods including ML, DL and cognitive computing; exploratory analytics to identify trends and drivers.

Support User Experience Design and development of advanced analytics products; collaborate with globally dispersed internal stakeholders, external partners and institutions to solve critical business problems and drive efficiencies and innovation.

Proactively evaluate the need for technology and novel scientific software, visualization tools and new approaches to computation to increase efficiency and quality of the data sciences practices.

Provide agile consulting, guidance and non-standard exploratory analysis for unplanned urgent problems.

Essential Requirements 10+ years of relevant experience in Data Science

Extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) with focus on SAP technologies

Expertise in Finance and M&A processes

Solid people management, team leadership & development skills

Proven experience in business process redesign, strategic thinking, Data strategy, Data Governance & Management, Big Data & Cloud Computing, applied mathematics, statistical analysis

Experience in Python and / or R
