Overview
Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking an experienced Ecotoxicology & Environmental Risk Assessment expert to join our well-respected team in Europe. This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy with a strong track record of advising clients in the chemical sector, with a focus on agrochemicals, biocides and REACH, to help them navigate the complexities of the EU regulatory environment.
ERM offers the full range of chemical regulatory consulting services including data gap analysis, study monitoring, risk assessment, preparation and submission of dossiers and post-submission support. Working with clients in the agrochemical, general chemical and biocides sectors, this person will play a key role in helping our clients achieve a successful registration. The role can be based in any of our offices in Brussels, Netherlands, Spain or Italy, and we have a flexible hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
Role responsibilities
- Provide a high quality consultancy service in ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment to clients and to other ERM staff to meet regulatory and business needs.
- Understand clients’ desired outcomes and work collaboratively to ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
- Work closely with clients, represent ERM in client meetings and respond to specific questions on ecotoxicology.
- Contribute to the commercial growth of the business through active participation in wider business development activities such as client visits, conferences, and expert groups relevant to the expert area, as appropriate.
- Undertake evaluation and summarisation of ecotoxicology data, ecological risk assessments and ecotoxicology study monitoring, with a focus on REACH requirements.
- Ensure awareness of the latest developments in all areas of ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment.
- Collaborate with other ERM environmental fate, mammalian toxicology and ecotoxicology experts to maintain project awareness and address general issues.
- Define actions and identify resources to achieve project tasks or objectives; ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget with goals aligned to desired results.
- Develop expertise in new EU regulatory developments in line with business requirements.
- Assist in the personal development of other ERM team members, as appropriate.
- Undertake other scientific and administrative tasks as needed to benefit the business.
Qualifications & Skills
Educated to at least degree level within Biology, Ecotoxicology or a related field.Proven experience in conducting ecotoxicological risk assessments.Demonstrated ability to design and conduct ecotoxicology studies.Strong knowledge of relevant EU regulations and guidelines, including EU data requirements for ecotoxicology studies.Practical experience of communication and liaison with EU regulatory bodies (Member States, ECHA, etc.) and involvement in expert meetings with clients.Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.Experience in preparation and support of dossiers using software such as IUCLID and CHESAR with a focus on REACH submissions.Strong commitment to delivering high quality work and client service, and to safety and following health and safety protocols.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, organize and prioritize.Proficiency in ecotoxicology statistical analysis software is preferable.Experience with non-EU regulatory requirements (Latin America, North America, APAC) would be an asset.Experience participating in advocacy groups and good interpersonal skills.What We Offer
