Lead Golang Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

Canonical is hiring for a Lead Golang Software Engineer across seniority levels. This role is remote-based in the EMEA region (all teams except Ubuntu Pro) or the AMER region (Ubuntu Pro). The position focuses on delivering high-quality software in the Commercial Systems unit, which includes multiple Golang-based services that support Canonical’s business and billing, contracts, patch delivery, and Ubuntu Pro offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang
  • Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team
  • Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to colleagues
  • Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices

What we are looking for in you

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative path
  • Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
  • Experience with software development in Golang
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long

  • Performance engineering and security experience
  • Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations, or other business roles
