Overview
Director or Associate Director Business Development, TIDES Discovery – WuXi Chemistry. Execute Business Development plans in close coordination with WuXi TIDES leadership leading to the identification, penetration, and growth of business and accounts in the designated European region. This position supports revenue generation for WuXi TIDES, a WuXi AppTec company, focusing on the growth of the oligonucleotide and peptide (O&P) Contract Research, Development and Manufacture (CDMO) services. This role is primarily responsible for business development of new accounts but will also develop business from existing accounts. The role collaborates with technical teams, other BD team members, European Business Development Management, Marketing, PR, Project Management, and senior WuXi TIDES management in China to devise and execute effective strategies to increase services, with a focus on geographic responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop individual tactics as part of the designated regional European cluster strategies to gain new business
- Identify potential business prospects (leads) in the defined territory across pharma, biotech, VC, non-profits, research institutes, agricultural, cosmetics, veterinary sciences and other potential customer groups
- Identify key decision makers relative to WuXi TIDES Discovery business for potential contact and collaboration
- Qualify leads and work with necessary team members to complete RFQ / RFPs
- Support plans and programmes for existing accounts in the defined territory to gain market share in existing customers
- Collaborate with biology, testing, toxicology, process development, and manufacturing services, increasing site penetration of all key accounts
- Achieve PO targets for new accounts and existing accounts
- Record progress of BD activities in CRM and OneDrive and provide regular updates to management
- Work closely with all WuXi business units, project management teams and marketing to ensure coordination of efforts and good communication with all parties
- Facilitate business meetings with WuXi personnel, including setting up visits for visiting technical team members, providing appropriate agendas, meeting content focused on opportunities in hand, and providing documented meeting minutes with clear SMART follow-up plans
- Support proposal writing with the technical team with emphasis on consistency and quality of proposal, and present and negotiate with the customer to close the contract
- Act as point of contact for WuXi TIDES Discovery Services and customer; ensure communication channels; proactively identify areas of growth opportunity; ensure a stable relationship, identify issues which could jeopardize the partnership; pose solutions
- Effective representation of WuXi TIDES Discovery Services and WuXi AppTec at various meetings / conferences / trade shows / local networking meetings, including planning and execution, and especially follow-up
- Facilitate and support customer travels to China
- Utilize various data sources to guide activities such as internal reports, whilst gathering competitive intelligence to ensure continued success
Qualifications
Experience / Education :
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with 4-8 years of relevant industry experience in drug discovery, and demonstrable success in business development, with at least 2-3 years in a CROKnowledge / Skills / Abilities :
