Schneider Digital is the digital department of Schneider Electric, leading the digital transformation in the company by giving support globally to our internal teams and our clients. Schneider Digital consists of 6 Digital Hubs worldwide which are strategically located to ensure a 24 / 7 support across the company (France, China, India, USA, Mexico and Spain). Our Digital Hub in Barcelona is formed by +450 employees working in strategic projects and different roles such as Data, Cybersecurity, ERP, Cloud, Infrastructures, IT Project Management or Digital Marketing.

This position is opened within the Architecture team within Intelligent Edge organization of Schneider Digital, which supports innovation and platforming program for Schneider Electric Business Units and Lines of Business on their Industrial IoT offers.

EdgeOS Server is a strategic technology disruption within the Intelligent Edge platforms. It enables a “Software Defined” approach at Edge level for simplifying the design and commissioning of a customer’s OT system, as well as its maintenance and evolution once operational.

A server-grade product built on top of EdgeOS Server can rely on a virtualization approach to deploy and execute real-time and best effort workloads in parallel. Virtualization refers here to both virtual machines and container-based approaches, used separately or in combination, depending on use cases and corresponding requirements.

Responsibilities

• The EdgeOS Server Platform Architect is part of Intelligent Edge’s EdgeOS Server team. They will be providing architecture guidelines, identify technical solutions and write technical requirements, answering to the functional requirement of the EdgeOS Server platform.
• They will be working closely with subject matter experts of the Intelligent Edge anticipation team to benefit from the explorations performed in the context of the “Software Defined Edge Control (SDEC)” program.
• They will be working also with various “client programs" within Energy Management business unit to define together the end-to-end architecture and select accordingly the appropriate technologies to integrate within the EdgeOS Server platform.
• They will be working also with POs and Architects of Edge System Management and EdgeOS MPU (mostly Execution Environment layer) platforms to ensure the proper landing of Virtualization technology within the platform : ensure full consistency and complementarity with what is already in place within EdgeOS MPU, define how to integrate Virtualization technologies as well as what and when, enable deployment of Virtual Machines and Containers and their monitoring, both locally and remotely from an on-premise or cloud-based Edge System Management.
