Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Compute)

We are supporting a leading Data Centre hyperscaler that is building a high-performance cloud platform for AI model training, inference, and AI fine-tuning — offering significant, sustainable compute power to their customers. They are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer (Bare-metal) to join their Engineering team. This team is responsible for the full infrastructure stack below the hypervisor, with a strong focus on bare-metal systems, OpenStack, Proxmox and Ceph.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will design, automate and operate large-scale infrastructure, bringing a developer’s approach to systems operations. The role also acts as a senior escalation point for complex issues and contributes to technical roadmap planning.

Responsibilities Design, deploy and operate compute and storage infrastructure (OpenStack, Proxmox, Ceph)

Automate provisioning, monitoring and recovery using Ansible, Terraform and scripting (Python, Bash)

Manage bare-metal lifecycle (PXE, IPMI, Redfish) and core networking (routing, VLANs, subnetting)

Act as a senior escalation point for infrastructure issues and support cross-team collaboration

Improve observability and performance through monitoring, tuning and infrastructure testing

Candidate profile 7+ years of Linux systems engineering with strong OS-level expertise

Experience building and managing large OpenStack clusters (Ironic, Neutron / OVN / OVS)

Proficiency with Ansible and Terraform for automation, plus scripting in Python or Bash

Hands-on experience with Proxmox, KVM / QEMU or similar virtualization technologies

Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, networking and storage

Nice to have Experience with Ceph or large-scale storage platforms

Experience with HPC or Nvidia GPUs

Contributions to open source or internal tooling
