We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure. The role involves developing scalable systems that efficiently process and deliver data from multiple sources into a centralized data lake and warehouse. This position plays a key role in enabling analytics, data science, and operational teams to access high‑quality, well‑structured data. Experience working with complex scientific or biological datasets is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development : Build and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines using Python and Apache Airflow for orchestration.
  • Cloud Infrastructure : Manage and optimize cloud‑based data environments leveraging AWS services such as S3 , RDS , and processing tools.
  • Data Modeling & Warehousing : Design efficient data models to ensure accessibility, performance, and scalability for analytical workloads.
  • Database Management : Work with PostgreSQL and other relational / non‑relational databases for data storage and retrieval.
  • SQL Development : Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation, integration, and analysis.
  • Data Quality & Governance : Implement validation and monitoring frameworks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data assets.
  • Collaboration : Partner with data scientists, analysts, and domain experts to understand business and analytical requirements.
  • Automation : Streamline repetitive processes through automation to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Domain Data Processing (Preferred) : Work with large and complex datasets from biological or life sciences research, such as genomic or experimental data.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics , or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong record of building and maintaining production‑grade data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python and advanced SQL .
  • Strong hands‑on experience with AWS , including S3 , RDS , and related services.
  • Practical experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling for data lakes and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git .
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and work independently.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in biological, pharmaceutical, or life sciences domains.
  • Exposure to distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark .
  • AWS certifications are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Docker or other containerization technologies.
