Underwriting Associate - Real Estate, Development Finance

We have been retained by a leading provider of Real Estate Finance in their search for an Associate. Our client has a track record of funding over 7 billion Euros of real estate projects and offers a range of structured credit solutions across Bridging Finance, Development Finance, and bespoke Lending Solutions.

They are increasing and investing in their European footprint, and this is a key hire reporting into the Global Head of Underwriting and working closely with a range of senior, board-level stakeholders.

In this role, you will be a key part of the underwriting team, managing transactions across the lifespan of a Development Finance facility, with a focus on Spanish, UK, and European markets.

Key duties :

Lead and coordinate the overall due diligence / underwriting process

Review initial deal information and prepare financial models in accordance with internal policies to share terms with clients

Produce key underwriting documentation, in particular, detailed credit applications, with direction from Deal Originators and support from the Deal Execution team

Review professional reports with the Head of Credit

Coordinate and lead communication with clients and stakeholders

Attend client meetings and contribute to new business development activities

Required experience, skills and characteristics :

We are seeking someone with experience across the real estate / development finance / risk underwriting and portfolio management process.

Spanish & English speaker

Experience coordinating with solicitors and reviewing finance / security documents

Degree educated; further education pertaining to property and real estate is a plus

Ability to build strong relationships with clients and brokers

Excellent mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills
