Galtea is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to lead the technical vision and development of next-generation AI Safety features within our innovative platform. This is a senior, hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role for someone who thrives on translating cutting-edge LLM evaluation research into a robust, scalable, and user-centric commercial product. You will be the technical authority for our core AI systems, driving both research and product development.

What you’ll be doing
As a Staff AI Engineer, you will be the chief technical owner of Galtea’s core AI services. You won't just build features; you will architect the systems, set the technical standards, and make the critical design decisions that ensure our platform is scalable, reliable, and effective. You will take ownership of the application architecture, evangelize software development and LLMOps best practices, and guide the rest of the team by example. As a key technical leader, you will play a critical role in determining the future of the platform, reporting directly to the CTO and tackling the hardest open questions in an AI-first sector.
Main responsibilities :
- Architectural Ownership : Lead the design, development, and scaling of Galtea's core AI services, ensuring our systems are built for high availability, scalability, and security from day one.
- Technical Strategy : Select and validate the most appropriate models, evaluation frameworks, and system designs (e.g., retrieval systems, agentic workflows, custom fine-tuning) to solve complex AI safety problems.
- High-Impact Collaboration : Spearhead technical collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) to leverage the Mare Nostrum 5 cluster for cutting-edge AI research and product development.
- Roadmap & Best Practices : Take ownership and execute the long-term AI feature roadmap.
- Architect and champion robust LLMOps & DevOps practices to enable agile, high-quality product iteration.
- Technical Mentorship : Act as a "force multiplier" by mentoring junior and mid-level engineers through in-depth code reviews, architectural design sessions, and setting a high bar for technical excellence.
About you
8+ years of professional experience in building, deploying, and scaling complex software products, with at least 4 years of proven experience in Machine Learning (specifically Deep Learning) based products and a strong command of the modern Generative AI stack.Scale-up Experience : Proven experience thriving in a high-growth scale-up or fast-paced product environment. You understand the unique challenges of rapidly scaling systems, processes, and teams.Technical Leadership : Demonstrable experience acting as a technical leader and mentor. You elevate the skills of the entire team and have experience guiding technical design and strategy.LLM Expertise : Deep, hands-on industry experience across the full LLM lifecycle , including fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic systems, and production-grade performance evaluation.Systems Design : Expertise in designing and scaling complex, production-grade AI / ML systems. This includes mastery of Python, ML frameworks, and deep learning architectures.Production Excellence : Expertise in MLOps / LLMOps / DevOps, including deploying, monitoring, and maintaining robust AI solutions at scale.Technical Depth : Experience with the Generative AI tech stack, including but not limited to knowledge graphs, vector databases, LLM workflow orchestration, observability, evaluation.Influence & Communication : Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence the technical roadmap and articulate complex trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders (including C-level).Education and Languages :
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or a related field (PhD preferred).Fluency in written and spoken English.Fluency in written and spoken Spanish.Perks :
