Offer Description
Plant Immunity Triggered by Cell Wall-Derived Glycans Group at Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (UPM-INIA / CSIC)
Are you interested in uncovering how plants perceive glycans and activate immune responses?
OUR RESEARCH : Our group investigates the molecular mechanisms of plant immunity, with a particular focus on how cell wall-derived glycans (oligosaccharides) function as key molecular signals in plant-pathogen interactions.
We study :
Our team has identified several oligosaccharides (ligands) derived from plant cell walls or outer layers of microorganisms, as well as novel plant receptor kinases (PRRs) involved in their perception and activation of plant immune responses. We now aim to deepen our understanding on the structural mechanisms of recognition of glycans by these PRRs, the signalling complexes in which these receptors participate at the plasma membrane, how their activity is regulated, and which components are involved in the downstream signalling cascades. Our final aim is to use this knowledge to develop novel glycan-based technologies contributing a more sustainable agriculture.
WE ARE LOOKING : For a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher, with strong scientific curiosity and experience in working in collaborative environments. Applicants should hold a PhD in Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related fields, obtained between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025. Solid experience in plant molecular biology, protein expression and protein-protein interaction is required.
The Juan de la Cierva 2025 call is open from November 25th until December 10th at 14 : 00
