Overview
Communication Unit
The VHIR Communication Unit is part of the Communication, Corporate Strategy, and Citizen Assistance Department of the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus. Its main objective is to raise awareness of the research carried out at Vall d'Hebron — across all areas and in all its forms.
On one hand, it communicates the institution's scientific achievements and milestones to the general public via the website, social media, and other media channels. This is done through press releases, conferences, interviews, videos, communication campaigns, and a wide range of written and audiovisual materials.
On the other hand, the unit ensures internal communication of research activities, publications, and updates to all personnel across the Campus, using internal bulletins, the intranet, and social media.
Additionally, it produces a key institutional tool that annually audits and presents the scientific output of the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), including a multimedia version of the report.
The unit also plays a vital role in the internationalisation of the institution by providing content in English and fostering stronger ties with international media.
Finally, the unit organises institutional events such as scientific seminars, workshops, and the annual conference. It also leads science communication initiatives to help bring research closer to society. These include participation in science fairs, open-door events, and other outreach activities aimed especially at engaging younger audiences and increasing public awareness.
