Summary

The Engineering Maintenance Lead manages a team of plant engineers and technicians to support manufacturing continuously, efficiently, and effectively through maintenance activities (corrective, preventive).

About The Role

Major Accountabilities :

  • Ensure continuity of preventive and corrective maintenance activities throughout the week, including on-call coverage. Facilitate handovers within the maintenance team and with production to maintain transparency and communication.
  • Implement Maintenance KPIs, report monthly results to the Global Maintenance Structure, and identify opportunities for improvement to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to training schedules, prioritize Work Orders, and implement Work Order review processes. Contribute to weekly planning meetings.
  • Set goals, manage performance, and oversee development activities for all direct reports, including managing leave and requests.
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors to ensure safe planning and execution of interdepartmental activities.
  • Ensure maintenance compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, documenting all activities per cGMP requirements.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance plans, including scheduling shutdowns when necessary.
  • Demonstrate instrumentation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of procedures, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance with cGMP and HPRA / FDA standards.
  • Minimize equipment breakdowns and their impact on production hours. Represent Engineering support at Tier morning meetings, coordinate resources, and review work plans weekly.
  • Connect onsite maintenance teams with other sites within RLT and Novartis, adhering to Global Maintenance Standards through regular calls.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical, Chemical, or FMCG industries, with detailed knowledge of manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to analyze recurrent breakdowns technically
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to electrical and mechanical equipment issues
  • Deep understanding of Pharma GMPs, Maintenance KPIs, and onsite equipment
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with maintenance activities or radioprotection equipment is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures, KPIs, and CMMS systems
