The Position

Softonic is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our talented Business Intelligence team in Barcelona. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that empowers our BI Engineers to transform data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers, fostering collaboration and setting the technical direction across best practices, architecture, and tooling.
• Manage and optimize current data ingestion workflows on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and design integrations for new data sources into the data lake.
• Design and develop scalable, efficient data pipelines and a robust data architecture.
• Develop, monitor, and maintain GCP infrastructure for data ingestion and processing, with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Design, develop and improve DevOps processes for the data lake (e.g., Git workflows, CI / CD pipelines, staging environments, deployment strategies, and access control).
• Work closely with the Head of BI to drive key data projects from inception to completion. Responsibilities include project scoping, solution design, planning, coordinating internal and external teams, and ensuring a successful execution.
• Ensure data security, governance, and compliance across the platform, maintaining the reliability and integrity of production systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather data requirements and deliver solutions aligned with organisational objectives.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and best practices, and actively share your knowledge to support the growth and development of team members.
