Position Overview

SANY Renewable Energy is seeking a highly qualified Senior Expert in Blade Aerodynamics to join our international R&D team in Madrid . This role focuses on advancing aerodynamic design, simulation, and validation of wind turbine blades to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency across diverse wind conditions.

The successful candidate will contribute deep technical expertise, collaborate across global engineering teams, and help drive aerodynamic innovation within our growing European operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform air foil polar simulations using tools such as XFOIL, MSES, and CFDI;

support airfoil design and analysis including the integration of features such as vortex generators and serrations.

Lead multi-objective aerodynamic blade design processes incorporating structural, control, and load considerations.

Validate turbine power curves and perform root cause analyses for underperformance.

Conduct blade load simulations using internal and commercial software tools.

Analyse field experiment data to assess in-flight blade response and its effect on turbine performance.

Review blade models with a focus on aerodynamic risks and mitigation strategies.

Develop specialized computational tools (primarily in MATLAB or Python) to support blade design tasks.

Evaluate aerodynamic impacts of blade modification kits and 3D CFD simulations.

Qualifications and Experience

At least 20 years of professional experience in wind turbine blade aerodynamics.

Deep expertise in air foil performance and blade element momentum (BEM) theory.

Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, Fortran, C / C++ with knowledge of object-oriented programming and optimization algorithms.

Experience working with large datasets is an advantage.

Strong communication skills in English;

capable of collaborating in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams.

Familiarity with relevant IEC standards (especially 61400-1, -11, -12) is preferred.

Position is based in Madrid;

no travel to China required.
