Job Title Health & Safety Lead – Sandoz Iberia
Overview The H&S Lead provides strategic and technical leadership for the organization's Health & Safety program. The role focuses on implementing standard work that reduces risk, ensures compliance, and embeds a culture where health and safety is part of everyday operations. By aligning strategy with execution, the H&S Lead will help drive both cultural ownership and operational excellence.
This is a senior leadership role that requires deep technical expertise in H&S and proven competence in managing high-risk operations such as electrical safety, lifting, construction, and work at height. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with practical execution, using data to inform decisions, shaping programs that reduce risk, and translating standards into measurable business results.
Your Responsibilities Lead the Health & Safety program by serving as the technical domain expert for H&S, with deep understanding of H&S requirements, including high-risk operations.
Develop, own, and govern a consistent H&S framework of standards, practices, and expectations that meet internal requirements and external obligations (e.g., ISO 45001).
Collaborate on program design (including high-risk operations) with cross-functional teams developing and delivering measurable outcomes.
Drive change in a systemic way leveraging e.g. Change management certification or experience (e.g., Prosci, Kotter).
Drive accountability for execution of HSE programs, compliance, and continuous improvement. Leverage expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis (5 Whys, RCA).
Able to influence decision-making with data-driven insights.
Familiarity with digital HSE platforms (e.g., Enablon, Intelex, SAP EHS).
Build organizational capability by coaching and mentoring site HSE professionals, fostering a culture of ownership and engagement.
Manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on delivery and impact.
Champion the consistent application of the Sandoz Business System (or equivalent), integrating Lean practices into H&S programs.
What You Need To Bring Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or technical equivalent).
Certified HSE professional (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CMIOSH, or equivalent).
8+ years of senior HSE leadership, spanning both operational and strategic dimensions across manufacturing or complex operations, with proven success in H&S program development, compliance, risk reduction, and cultural transformation.
Skilled in data-driven decision-making and performance management.
Demonstrated competency in Integrated Work Systems and / or Lean practices.
Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Additional language skills desirable.
Collaborative leader who thrives in a matrix environment and builds cross-functional alignment.
Results-driven and execution-focused, able to balance strategic vision with practical delivery.
Confident communicator, capable of engaging senior leaders, HSE professionals, and operational teams alike.
Lean certified.
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
