Our client, a fast-growing multinational startup operating in the technology sector, is searching for a full-time Head of Tax Compliance & Innovation Incentives reporting to the VP of Finance. The Head of Tax Compliance & Innovation Incentives will be responsible globally for leading the tax compliance function, ensuring full adherence to local and international tax regulations, and maximizing the company's access to innovation incentives, grants, and tax credits. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading the tax compliance strategy with strong technical knowledge of tax compliance and expertise in incentives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your main duties and responsibilities include :
Tax Compliance :
- Lead globally the Tax Compliance department.
- Oversee all aspects of international tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT, withholding taxes, etc.) ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and related documentation with robust governance.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
- Lead and advise on Transfer Pricing and Inter-company policies.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.
- Provide tax advice of business operations and new projects.
- Develop and maintain tax policies and procedures.
- Liaise with tax authorities, external advisors, and auditors.
Innovation Incentives :
Lead the identification, application, and management of innovation incentives (such as R&D tax credits, grants, and subsidies).Define and implement a cross-functional strategy for innovation incentives across the organization.Manage relationships with government agencies, consultants, and external partners.Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure eligibility and compliance.Monitor regulatory changes and new funding opportunities in Spain and internationally.EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, or relevant field.15 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in international and multi-entity environments, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.In-depth knowledge of Spanish and international tax regulationsExperience with innovation incentives (R&D tax credits, grants, etc.) in Spain and the EU.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both English (C1 minimum) and Spanish.Experience in Big 4 or leading tax advisory firms.Experience with international innovation incentives.Relevant certifications : tax / accounting qualifications.Familiar with start-up culture and ecosystems.Experience working in international environments.Master's & other higher-level education will be deemed positively and considered towards the experience.
