Job Details The Environmental Sustainability Specialist coordinates the execution of World Courier's global environmental strategy, which is focused on resilient and sustainable operations, and is a key component of parent company Cencora’s global sustainability plan. This role contributes by delivering the company's sustainability goals, coordinating cross-functional initiatives to integrate sustainability practices across all business functions, by engaging internal and external stakeholders. Initiatives include emission reduction, waste management, sustainable buildings, climate risks, and environmental reporting, resulting in impactful outcomes. Reporting into the Cencora Director of Environmental Sustainability with a dotted line to the World Courier Vice President Sales & Services.

This role is in support of Cencora's global logistics and storage services marketed through our World Courier business.

Responsibilities Drive towards reaching World Courier sustainability targets, partnering with Regions and Functions to ensure measurable progress.

In alignment with Cencora’s strategy, oversee the company’s GHG inventory and carbon reduction strategy, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and lead the evaluation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive global carbon management framework.

Develop and implement a decarbonization roadmap to achieve carbon reduction, including supplier engagement.

Provide oversight and guidance on sustainability-related data analytics and reporting, including carbon emissions forecasting and measurement.

Collaborate with business units, across the supply chain and with procurement teams, to implement and optimize sustainability initiatives across global operations.

Develop sustainability performance metrics and KPIs, integrating them into departmental goals and corporate reporting frameworks.

Draft and implement globally World Courier-related sustainability guidelines in full alignment and supported by Cencora-wide policies.

Partner with sales and marketing to develop tools and resources that communicate sustainability efforts to stakeholders.

Engage with executive leadership on sustainability matters, providing strategic recommendations and updates on progress.

Present to senior management on key environmental issues, ensuring alignment with long-term corporate strategy and shareholder value.

Oversee resource allocation and management of key sustainability projects, ensuring timely and impactful delivery.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and facilitate exceptional sustainability outcomes.

Serve as the World Courier expert in sustainability, providing data to Cencora to fulfill regulatory requirements, represent World Courier in annual Corporate Responsibility reporting and other submissions such as CDP and investor rater / ranker requests.

Education Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field

Work experience Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental sustainability, or related fields, with demonstrated experience in managing large-scale emissions reduction initiatives.

Desirable experience in project management

Experience with sustainability frameworks and reporting protocols such as CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD, and carbon accounting, including Scope 3 emissions a plus.

Completion of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol training program.

In-depth understanding of sustainability best practices, trends, and ESG disclosure standards.

Skills and Knowledge Strong strategic planning skills, including roadmap development, timeline management, and resource allocation.

Demonstrated project planning and management skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at presenting complex sustainability concepts to varied audiences, including senior leadership.

Proven ability to educate and influence senior management and team members on environmental sustainability.

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with experience at the intersection of ESG, strategy, and operations.

Ability to foster a positive work environment and work independently with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in MS Office and strong aptitude with technology tools, applications, and managing complex data files.

Ability to travel up to 10% for business needs, including site visits, customer meetings and industry conferences.
